Tagufi is a community-powered discovery app that helps users find local places, businesses, services, and community-relevant locations by city, community, and category.

This Privacy Policy explains how Tagufi collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use the Tagufi mobile application, website, or related services.

1. Information we collect

Account information

If you sign in to Tagufi, we may collect basic account information through Google Sign-In, such as:

your name;
your email address;
your profile identifier;
your authentication status.

We use this information to sign you in, connect submissions to an authenticated user, protect the app from abuse, and allow admin-only features where applicable.

Place submissions

If you submit a place to Tagufi, we may collect the information you provide, including:

place name;
category;
community;
city;
address;
latitude and longitude of the submitted place;
phone number;
website;
description;
submission date and review status.

Approved place information may become visible to other users in the app and on related public Tagufi pages.

Event submissions

If you submit an event to Tagufi, we may collect the information you provide, including:

event title;
date and time;
venue or address;
location coordinates, if you set a map pin;
city;
community (or a suggested community);
event type;
description;
a source link or website;
submission date and review status.

If you are signed in, an event submission is also associated with your authenticated account (such as your email address and profile identifier) so we can review it and prevent abuse. Event submissions are reviewed before any publication, and we may approve, reject, edit, remove, or decline to publish them. Approved event information may become visible to other users in the app and on related public Tagufi pages.

App usage and technical information

Tagufi may collect limited technical information needed to operate, protect, and improve the app, such as:

authentication identifiers;
timestamps;
error or diagnostic information;
basic device or app version information;
security signals used by Firebase and Google services.

Location-related information

Tagufi is a map-based discovery app. It uses location information related to places and businesses shown on the map.

When you submit or adjust a place, Tagufi stores the location coordinates of that submitted place. Tagufi does not currently use continuous background location tracking.

If you tap the current-location control on the home map, Tagufi may request foreground access to your device location so it can show the Google Maps blue dot and center the map on your current position for that session.

Tagufi does not use background location, does not store your device GPS location in Firestore, and does not send raw latitude or longitude to Firebase Analytics.

Analytics

Tagufi uses Firebase Analytics (Google Analytics for Firebase) to understand how the app is used in aggregate.

Analytics events include actions such as opening the app, viewing a screen, opening a place, tapping a directions / phone / website action, submitting a place, opening a static page (About, Privacy, or Terms), and signing in or out.

Analytics parameters are limited to non-personal identifiers, including place IDs, category IDs, community tags, city IDs, sign-in method, and short generic action labels. Analytics events do not include your name, email address, phone number, addresses, descriptions, search text, the contents of your submissions, or your device's GPS location.

We do not associate analytics events with your user account. Analytics uses the Firebase Installation ID, which is app-scoped and can generally be reset by uninstalling and reinstalling the app or by clearing the app's data from the device's app settings. The Firebase Installation ID is separate from the Android Advertising ID, which Tagufi does not collect. Tagufi does not use analytics for advertising.

2. How we use information

We use information to:

provide the app and its map-based discovery features;
let users browse places by city, community, and category;
allow users to submit missing places and events;
review, approve, reject, and manage submissions;
prevent spam, abuse, and duplicate submissions;
maintain security and reliability;
improve the app and user experience;
communicate with users when needed;
comply with legal obligations.

3. Public information

Approved place listings may be visible to other users. This can include business names, addresses, categories, community tags, phone numbers, websites, descriptions, and map locations.

Do not submit information that you do not have the right to share or that should remain private.

4. Service providers and third-party services

Tagufi uses third-party services to operate the app, including Google and Firebase services such as:

Firebase Authentication;
Cloud Firestore;
Cloud Functions;
Firebase App Check;
Firebase Hosting;
Firebase Analytics (Google Analytics for Firebase);
Google Maps;
Google Places / address autocomplete;
Google Sign-In.

These services may process information according to their own privacy policies and terms.

Tagufi may also open third-party services, such as Google Maps, phone dialer links, browser links, or business websites, when you choose to use those actions. Tagufi is not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party websites or services.

We do not sell your personal information.

We may share or disclose information:

with service providers that help operate Tagufi;
when approved place information is published in the app;
if required by law, regulation, legal process, or government request;
to protect Tagufi, users, the public, or the integrity of the service;
in connection with a business transfer, merger, acquisition, or reorganization, if applicable.

6. Data retention

We keep information for as long as needed to operate Tagufi, maintain the directory, review submissions, prevent abuse, comply with legal obligations, and resolve disputes.

Approved place listings may remain in the directory until updated, removed, or replaced. Rejected or pending submissions may be retained for moderation, audit, security, and abuse-prevention purposes.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account at any time from within the app: open the menu and choose Delete account. When you do, we permanently remove your Tagufi sign-in account and your personal data, including your recommendations (thumbs up/down) and any pending or rejected submissions. Places and events you contributed that have already been approved may remain in the public directory, but we remove your name and email address from them so they are no longer linked to you. Some non-identifying or aggregated information may be retained.

7. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or request information about how your personal information is used.

You may contact us at contact@tagufi.com to request access, correction, or deletion of personal information associated with your Tagufi account or submissions.

Some information may need to be retained where required for security, legal, audit, or legitimate operational reasons.

8. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Children

Tagufi is not intended for children. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child without appropriate consent where required, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.

10. International processing

Tagufi uses cloud service providers that may process and store information in Canada, the United States, or other jurisdictions where those providers operate.

11. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date. Continued use of Tagufi after changes means you accept the updated Privacy Policy.
